Despite the many misconceptions about plumbing, the profession continues to grow, making it a viable career choice for many. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, plumber jobs will grow by 16% by 2026. This is faster than the average job growth in the U.S.

You may not realize it, but Albert Einstein actually wanted to be a plumber! His dream was realized when he was named honorary member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. He was even given gold-plated plumbing tools from a New York plumber’s local. In the early 1930s, a plumber named Al Moen invented the single-handle faucet, which controls both hot and cold water. Since then, Moen’s name has become one of the most recognizable names in faucets.

Not only do plumbers fix clogged drains, they also repair and maintain water and drainage systems. They even install complex appliances and plumbing fixtures. The field of plumbing is very complex, and it takes more than four years to become a plumber. For example, plumbers in New York State have to complete seven years of study and apprenticeship to become licensed.

Albert Einstein said that if he could choose any career, he would be a plumber. The Tudors called bathrooms the “house of privacy”. And the oldest toilet in the world, which is still in its original piece, is found in China. In addition, water only stays in the human stomach for five minutes before entering the intestines.
